Just $2.60 each month sends an Imagination Library book to a child from birth until the age of Five.

“Books for Jackson’s Children” is a nonprofit dedicated to making a difference in the lives of children facing challenging circumstances, through early literacy. While Imagination Library is available to all children without regard to income through the United Way of the Capital Area, our specific donations provide extra dollars to help books reach Jackson children in need.

Your tax-deductible one-time or ongoing gift to Books for Jackson’s Children is a simple, affordable way to help change the future of a child in need. We simple make it was for individuals or businesses to give a one-time or recurring gifts, honorariums, or memorials. Annual giving sponsorships come with recognition and perks. Could your company match employee contributions or make a holiday donation in the name of your clients? We’ll provide cards featuring art from our young readers! Health and childcare providers can sponsor books for their clients. Maybe your group could host an informational event. We would love to speak and share our mission!

Have you heard about the Imagination Library program?
Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library provides age-appropriate high-quality books to children at no cost to families. Their books are purchased at scale, significantly reducing cost. They also coordinate the book selection, fulfillment and delivery processes. Imagination Library Local Partners bring the program to life in their communities by helping administer it and by covering the at-cost book and mailing expenses for children registered in their coverage area. The Imaginary Library program is available to all children without regard to income through their Tricounty Local Program Partner, United Way of the Capital Area. To register a child in our Tricounty area directly through the United Way or donate funding to sponsor a specific child outside of Books for Jackson’s Children local mission area, contact the United Way of the Capital Area.

What difference can a book make?
Children regularly read to before the age of  five are 74% more likely to read proficiently by the third grade. They are 4x more likely to graduate from high school, reducing the risk of incarceration, unemployment, and early parenthood, while helping break the cycle of generational poverty. Reading between the ages of one and five is not just a personal milestone — it is a community investment, particularly in underserved and minority populations.
